I am tidbit of information...

It's always cool to see people you know in the spotlight...have I ever mentioned that my doctor(my orthopaedic specialist) is one of the Clippers doctors? Check it out...I put the whole article in because I was gonna talk about him anyway...it was a pretty gruesome sight...I cringe everytime I see the replay.

Clippers G Livingston dislocates knee cap
February 27, 2007

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston dislocated his left knee cap and had to be wheeled off the court on a stretcher during Los Angeles' 100-93 victory Monday night over the Charlotte Bobcats.

The three-year veteran was driving to the basket on a fast break and went up from a layup. He missed the shot and came down hard on his left foot in a contorted manner and collapsed in obvious pain as the Staples Center crowd of 18,442 grew hushed. Play continued for another 18 seconds before Livingston was placed on a stretcher.

"When he landed, I thought it was his ankle," coach Mike Dunleavy said. "But when he hit the floor, you could see that his knee was dislocated and he was in tremendous pain."

Livingston remained in the arena for X-rays, which were negative, then was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Dr. Steven Shimoyama, one of the Clippers' team physicians, said he had to pop Livingston's knee cap back into place to alleviate the pain.

"The prognosis is still uncertain because we don't yet know the extent of his injury," the doctor added. "In our preliminary inspection, it does not appear that he had damage. But you need an anteriogram (an injection of dye into the arteries in Livingston's leg) to be sure. Then he'll probably get an MRI."

Livingston, who was picked fourth overall by the Clippers in the 2004 draft out of high school, has been hampered by injuries and has yet to play a full season in the NBA. He missed 39 games during his rookie season because of a dislocated right knee, and another 12 that season because of torn cartilage in his right shoulder. Last season he sat out the first 21 games with a stress reaction in his lower back.

"I love that kid," teammate Cuttino Mobley said. "It's a tough thing to happen to him -- not only for the team, but also for our fans. He is really special."

Livingston, who has been sharing the point guard duties with 37-year-old Sam Cassell, missed two games in January with a sprained right ankle. He entered the Charlotte game averaging 9.5 points and 5.2 assists. Livingston had a career-high 14 assists in Saturday's 103-90 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

"He was playing well," Elton Brand said following the Clippers' 100-93 victory. "He just had one of his best games of the season against Golden State, so it was really disappointing. After he got injured, it was on the back of everyone's mind. We wanted to pull it out, even though it was a downer with Shaun going down the way he did.

I am the 2nd of 40...

So is today the 1st day or 2nd day of Lent? I'm never sure how those things go...but I think it's the 2nd day of lent, the kickoff is usually the first day, right? Right. Anyway, so another Lenten season is upon us. The priest was saying at mass yesterday how peculiar it is that even on a non-holy day of obligation that so many people come out to Ash Wednesday services, to receive their ashes. Hopefully it's a way for them to renew their practice, beginning with the Lenten season. But sadly, sometimes it's just that people want to SHOW that their practicing, which is what the Gospel was about yesterday, "...pray in secret and you will be repaid." This of course brings up a lot of questions about public displays, which can get kinda hairy sometimes. I think that it has to do more with sincerity and intent than anything else. We're told to not show we're fasting and not be obvious in prayer, and it's far easier to show that sincerity and intent when you're alone cuz there's no one to boast to. But still, I think it's okay to do it in public...as long as it's sincere. And whether or not it is, God will know, so that's all you have to worry about. I digress...I wanted to mention what I was giving up for lent. I'm going to not criticize people so much at work, be more patient in traffic, no more cussing(at least try to...maybe I'll implement a quarter per cuss word jar), and the thing I love that I'm sacrificing is noodles. ALL noodles. Man, that's gonna be hard. That means no Pho, no pasgetti, and most of all, no RAMEN!!! AAAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!! I'm already regretting it...40 days w/o noodles. I think I have noodles more than rice, ha ha ha...j/k.

My legs are so tired. I've played 4 league basketball games this week(in the last 4 days), which is twice as many as I usually do and two of those games were in one day! I was planning on working out...but I think I'm going to ixnay that plan and just take it easy. I wanted to sleep early last night, but I was working on a presentation I have to give today and I had to reseal the shower railing at home, cuz water was getting through. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, I had to remove all of the old caulking and just when I thought I was done, I'd find out there was more...so it was quite intensive. Hopefully I applied the sealant correctly, otherwise, it's back to the caulkboard.

Today is the NBA trade deadline...Lakeshow just lost their 6th straight game, first 6-game losing streak of Phil's career. I'm sick of the lack of D...I'm ready to let go of Smush....Jason Kidd is the one we're trying to get, but I don't know if I could give up Bynum for him...or even Farmar...but I'd let go of Farmar before of Bynum. I think this deal has to be made!!!

5 months to the big day...goodness it's comin fast.

Lesson of the day
The biggest step is always the first step.

I am a painful left tsoaz...

I hope V-day was good for everyone. It was quite eventful for me. Like I said yesterday, I had a nice quiet dinner w/ beeb. She made french onion soup and linguini in a scallop and wine sauce. It was muy deliciouso! I provided dessert...wine, choc covered strawberries and cupcakes. And I gave her my gift, a CD of songs we want to use for the wedding. Her gift? Well....

Her gift came to me earlier in the day...I was sitting at my desk when Joey(one of my work peeps) came by and told me Jem(another work-peep) needed some help downstairs. So I follow him downstairs, and he leads me into a small conference room, where there are four guys, dressed in red vests standing waiting for me. There was a rose and an envelope with a card that had Cicely's name on it. It was a barbershop quartet!! For those that didn't already know, I'm a big fan of barbershop quartets!!! So they preface their song by saying, "We dont' normally do this for dudes" There were people crowded outside the door and my coworker got it all on video. They sang two songs, which I can't even remember at this point(because I was kinda embarassed cuz people were watching, he he he), but I know they sounded awesome. I told them that I really dug barbershop quartets and they asked me if I sang, and ended up inviting me to come out on Wednesdays to sing with them...they welcome all people! So it was a HUGE surprise and a wonderful v-day gift. So thank you beeb. I would post the video, but...neh. He he he, I still have to get it from my coworker.

Work's been aight today...haven't been doin too much, I had another no-show today, I was supposed to have a meeting too...grr. Leavin early today though, Laker game tonight! Come on!!!!

Lesson of the day
Three people helping each other will do as much as six alone.

I am a chocolate covered strawberry...

After my game, I went to Bally's to work out, and then I remembered that since it was right next to Rite-Aid, I needed some razors and some deodorant, and I thought to myself, "I'll swing by and pick some up after." They didn't have any(razors) the last time I went, but it had been like 3 days already so I figured they would've restocked. I walk in...and the lines for the register are just crazy. So I go and look for the razors...and STILL none. I ask the pharmacy people how I could get someone to help me, and they're all, everyone's at the register...and I wasn't about to go wait in line just to ask them to help me. So I leave and go to ralphs...they had the razors, thank goodness...but believe it or not, the lines were even WORSE. Everyone had candy, and dessert, and cards, and everything was pink, red, or some shade inbetween. Dude, I'm all for v-day and all...I mean, I even have plans w/ beeb for a nice intimate dinner together and everything. Nothin huge, just small and just us. But seriously...v-day has to be one of the most marketted non-off-day-at-work holidays. It's kinda ridiculous. Anyway, that was my vent...all because I had to wait forever for a pack of razors and 2 sticks of deodorant, WHICH cost me frickin 30 bucks btw. Frickin razors are expensive...and I don't even use that Gilette Fusion..I'm still on the Mach 3 Turbo. I'm startin to think that maybe shaving my head isn't that much cheaper than growing hair, shampooing it, putting products in it, and cutting it every now and then. But then again, that's not really an option for me. The longer I wait between head-shaves...the older I look...and not older as in more mature, older as in, "Hey Gramps, you're a little old to be out this late!"

Haven't mentioned the lakers much...they were doing so well at one point...now they've lost 10 of their last 14...frustrating doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about them. Well that's 4 losses in a row...they better win on Thursday, cuz we'll be at the game!

Happy v-day to everyone!!!

Lesson of the day
The journey is just as important as getting to the end of the road.

I am fewer and further between...

Dang, it's been a while...I really hate being so busy...there's all these things I wanna write about, but by the time I actually get the chance to, it's already slipped through my hands...

Happy belated b-days to:
Mina - Jan 28
Jun - Feb 01
Gleen - Feb 03
Ellen - Feb 04

Superbowl - not much to say except I'm so happy Payton finally got his ring...well deserved and well played. That rain must've been a beeeeyotch!

So I got a new laptop at work last week, and I haven't even had the chance to start using it yet. I have so many files and programs on this computer I have to make sure I have them all on the next one so that I can make a seamless transition from old to new...so far, I've moved all my current files and favorites and stuff like that, and I just have to take care of the older files. It's hard though, cuz work's still busy and i don't get time to move everything right away. And something's wrong w/ this Itunes backup thing, it's pissin me off. I don't wanna fully change over until I can back up all my music onto the new laptop(even though I'm not supposed to, he he he)

My project got delayed...I don't know if I mentioned this already...I just want it to end already...CALGONE take me AWAY!!!! But I DO get to be here w/ beeb for V-day, so that's one big perk, just now, it's scare cuz there's a chance I may be going to Japan in mid-may...

Lesson of the day
Working for one incompetant man is a challenge, working for two...is torture...
